Founded in 1966, YMCA Helsinki Music College offers diverse opportunities for children, young people and adults to enjoy music. At YMCA Helsinki Music College you can study playing, singing, musical theory and composition either on in Music College or in our Open Studies. Instrumental teaching is mainly given in Vuorikatu.

Show more content...When applying for the Music College, a student may be no more than 29 years old. The criteria for student selection include the student’s musical talent and learning ability, which should allow for at least the completion of basic studies in music. On the college line, theoretical studies and proficiency performances are part of the curriculum.
The next entrance exam of the Music College will take place in Vuorikatu on Thursday, 12 May 2022.

Show more content...All children, adults and seniors interested in music are welcome to YMCA Helsinki Music College Open Studies, where teaching is given in the same subjects as in the Music College department.
Proficiency performances are not mandatory, but you can choose to perform them.

TUITION AND FEES
Tuition in the Music College is determined by the length of the lesson and by the department as follows:
major subject 45 min, €470, contains 17 weekly lessons
minor subject 30 min, €345, contains 14 weekly lessons
Open Studies:
45 min, €555, contains 14 weekly lessons
30 min, €400, contains 14 weekly lessons
A theory major, group teaching, €110, includes 14 (45-minute) weekly lessons.
Term fees for instrument teaching include group teaching of musical theory for a single subject.
At the beginning of the calendar year, in addition to the term fee, we will charge an annual membership fee according to our rules, €40 pupil.
SUBSTITUTION OF LESSONS IN CASES OF ILLNESS:
- The teacher is obliged to substitute the lesson only if the student can present a certificate of illness from the date of absence.
- The teacher is obliged to compensate the student for the teacher’s own sickness absence.
- If a student or a teacher is on sick leave for a longer period of time, remote learning is arranged on a case-by-case basis if possible, or part of the term fee is refunded.
